Changing Scale
Changing the Display Scale
The Plot View's scale is shown in the lower right hand corner of the screen. As you change the magnification, you'll see that the scale changes appropriately. The scale usually displays two units, for example, feet and poles, but depending on the values other combinations of units may be displayed.
The following commands are available for changing the scale:
Command |
|
Function |
PgUp |

Decrease magnification by a factor of 2 |
PgDn |
|
Increase magnification by a factor of 2 |
Ctrl+PgUp |

Increase magnification by a factor of 4 |
When DeedMapper starts up, it uses a scale of 2000 feet per inch, which is compatible with USGS topographic maps, and the navigation commands will change the scale by factors of two from that starting value.
Rubberband Zoom
Press and hold the Ctrl key and then press and hold the right mouse button. Drag the mouse to select a region of the Plot View. When you release the mouse button the Plot View will zoom to the selected region, setting the display scale to whatever is required. To revert to standard display scaling, see the Plot View tab of the View Options dialog.
Mouse Scroll Wheel
Press and hold the Ctrl key and then use the mouse scroll wheel to increase or decrease magnification of the Plot View.
Custom Display Scale
You can select your own starting scale (for example, 100 poles per inch) in place of the standard one. See the Plot View tab of the View Options dialog for information on modifying the scale setting.
