Selecting parcels, annotations, and maps
Selecting/deselecting a parcel, annotation, or map
Item selection is important to DeedMapper. By selecting an item (i.e. a parcel, annotation, or map), you are indicating your intention of working with that item. Many of DeedMapper’s menu commands are only available when an item is selected.
Once you have selected an item you can generally do things like drag it, delete it, copy it, edit it, jump to it, display info about it, and so on.
Knowing what is selected
The name of the currently selected item is always displayed in the title bar across the top of the DeedMapper window. If nothing is selected then the title bar will only display the name of the deed file.
To select/deselect a parcel in the Plot View
1. Go to the Plot View (F5 shortcut key)
2. Navigate until the desired parcel is in view
3. Make sure the cursor is the Pointer cursor (Tools menu, then Pointer)
4. Click the left mouse button inside the parcel you want to select. It should light up to indicate it has been selected. If the wrong parcel lights up, keep clicking, and make sure the mouse is inside the parcel. Eventually your parcel will light up.
5. To deselect the parcel, click on it once more
Multiple parcels can be selected at once by holding the CTRL key down while selecting additional parcels (step 4).
