Labels
Labels
The Display menu allows you to choose pieces of information from the deed description to be shown on the parcel in the Plot View. If you want to create a custom formatted display you can do so by using a Label.
Labels are entered in the Abstracting Section of the deed text by typing Lbl, a space, and a formatting statement. The formatting statement consists of regular English words, MBL words prefixed with %, the words ‘%area’ and ‘%item’, and the backslash ( \ ) character. The meanings of these elements are as follows:
English words |
Displayed literally |
%MBL words |
Look up and display the deed line beginning with that word |
%area |
Calculate and display the parcel’s area |
%item |
Display the parcel’s item number |
backslash |
Start a new line |
Examples:
Label line in the deed text |
What appears in the Plot View |
Lbl Owner: %to |
Owner: Joseph Smith |
Lbl %area, %to\%dat |
214a, Joseph Smith 13 Jul 1824 |
Lbl From: %frm\To: %to\Date: %dat |
From: John Carter To: Joseph Smith Date: 13 Jul 1824 |
Labels can be defined on a deed by deed basis, or can be defined in an Include Item, in which case the label definition applies to all deeds in the deed file. See The Include Item
If done on a deed by deed basis, the Lbl line must be located prior to any metes and bounds (Pt and Ln) lines.
To display your labels, go to the Plot View, open the Display menu and select Label.
The displayed font size can be changed for all parcels by changing the Standard Plot Font setting on the View Options dialog, or for individual parcels by use of the Edit Font command.
